Spore Production and Inoculation Methods for Resistance Screening to Gummy Stem Blight (Mycosphaerella melonis) in Muskmelon Seedlings

Abstract

|
|
This experiment was carried out to establish spore production and inoculation methods for resistance screening of muskmelon to gummy stem blight at seedling stage. The spores were most abundantly produced on the potato sucrose agar (PSA) medium with 12hrs daylength at fluorescent light (FL 40D) of 110 μ㏖·m^(-2)·s^(-1). The optimum inoculum density in screening resistance to gummy stem blight was 5×10^5/mL. The inoculation onto cut surface of leaf petiole was the most effective.
